IOWA DEMOCRATIC VETERANS’ CAUCUS
Empowering Veterans & Military Families
Service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off.
The Iowa Democratic Veterans’ Caucus is the recognized voice for veterans and their families within the Iowa Democratic Party. We advocate to protect the benefits Iowans earned in service to this country, and we work to bring more veterans into Democratic politics — as candidates, as advisors, and as organizers in their own communities.
Nearly 160,000 Iowans are veterans. This country carries a moral obligation to every one of us.
What we do
We put veterans on the ballot. Veteran representation in elected office is at a historic low, in Iowa and nationally. We recruit, support, and endorse Democratic veterans running at every level — school board to Congress.
We shape the party’s agenda.
The Caucus helps craft the Iowa Democratic Party’s legislative and policy priorities on the issues that reach veterans, their families, and their communities.
We organize where we live.
Iowa’s veterans are spread across all 99 counties, in small towns as much as in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids. We build in every one of them.
Who belongs here
Veterans of every branch and every era. National Guard and Reserve. Military families — the spouses, parents, and children who carried the weight at home. Gold Star families. Caregivers and survivors.
